The new course is now available so book your place today!
The IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
… are the definitive standards for the electrical industry which everyone must follow when carrying out any domestic or commercial electrical installation work.
They set requirements and operating criteria for the UK and correspond to EC standards in respect of safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems.
In July 2018 the previous 17th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations were updated to the new 18th Edition, with every installation from January 2019 needing to be designed to comply with the new Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018.
The City & Guilds 2382-18 18th Edition Course
… leads to a qualification officially known as the Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018.
The 18th Edition course is an essential electrical qualification, suitable for both newcomers to the industry, associate trades and those looking to update their existing qualification. It is also a requirement for anyone interested in joining a competent person part p scheme provider – like NICEIC – and to certify that their installations meet current regulation guidelines.
As with the previous course there are 8 units to study, 7 related to the parts and 1 to the appendices of the BS7671 IET regulations – and a 2 hour open book exam at the end.
The New 18th Edition Qualification Timeline
The previous 17th Edition Wiring Regulations were updated & the new 18th Edition Qualification Course became available.
Every new installation will need to comply with the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations from the 1st day of the new year. All new JIB / ECS applicants MUST have the 18th Edition Qualification.
All companies will expect to see this course completed within 12 months of launch. All JIB / ECS card renewals MUST have 18th Edition Wiring Regulations or the card will be revoked.
Who Is The 18th Edition Qualification For?
The City and Guilds Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 qualification is primarily aimed at practising electricians with relevant experience.
And if you want to join, or renew, a Government Approved Part P Scheme Provider, like NICEIC or ELECSA, then the 18th Edition qualification is particularly essential.
There are however other associated professionals e.g. surveyors, consultants and other trades, whom will also need to update and enhance their understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations.
If you want to be one of the first to gain your 18th Edition qualification – and promote your business in doing so – you can find out how just below.
